Icon7 Longtime Magazine Writer - New Here

Hello All,

I'm new here, so I thought I'd write a little introduction.

My name is Steve and I wrote for firearms and hunting magazines for many years. Interestingly, or maybe not so, in all those years, I never had a rejection ... guess my editors weren't paying attention.

After I retired from selling my words, I signed on to write a Catholic blog on Catholicfinishstrong.com . That was about four years ago and my blog is still going strong.

An offer: If I can help any of you with firearms, hunting (I've hunted big game all over the Western state, Canada and Africa), give me a shout. Also, my wife of 53-years and I are devout Catholics. If any of you have any Catholic-faith or early-Church fathers questions for inclusion in your writing, I would be delighted to help in any way I can.

My wife, Karen, and I wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

All the best,

Steve Timm

Welcome Steve,

Nick Pierce will be happy to talk guns with you. That is, if he doesn't blow himself up in the shed packing ammo (I think that's what one calls it) before noticing this intro.

Brian, it's called "reloading" or "handloading."

In truth, Nick has most likely read my many, many articles in Handloader Magazine. Wolfe Publishing gave me a chance by publishing my first article, one on the .338-'06, in 1984 and it started a really wonderful second career.

I owned a fine jewelry store for many years and marketed my custom goldwork there. My goldsmithing work was enjoyable, but nothing like writing.

All the best,

Steve

Yes, see, I'm not a gun guy. When I've needed help with guns or motorcycles Nick usually comes to my rescue.

I'm also an atheist who has been married to a devout catholic for 25 years (yes, I had to convert to marry her but she was so damned good looking—I couldn't say no.)

I love the Catholic rituals still. They have such a reverence for the simple and obvious.

My children were raised Catholic and all three left the church at one point, but my oldest had returned with her fiancé.

Merry Christmas to you and your kin.

Looks like Florida will go to open carry beginning in July.

Thought I would check out how that is going in other states that have legalized it.

Holy smoke!
Open carry is legal in 47 states?!

Where are the news reports of carnage, blood running in the streets, wanton wholesale slaughter of innocents?

C'mon, media.
How about backin' up your hype with some facts.

Nick, there were two well publicized events in Colorado.

P., if you are referring to the school and the movie theater please note that legal concealed carry was prohibited at both locations.

Oh. I did not know that.

The assailants did, Mr. Pierce.

Okay, Nick. I understand your point.

Just, sayin', P., just sayin'.

So... open carry is when you can wear your gun say in a holster on your hip? Does it have to be visible?

Here I think we can do almost whatever we want with a handgun. People cry about guns in bars or on college campuses, but I'm much more concerned about Walmart shoppers packing heat.😳
