Default "Sexual Minorities" more likely to become pregnant or to impregnate someone.

I'm not sure what to make of Reuters use of of the "too cute" term Sexual Minority, but the study indicates that non hetero's, or sometime hetero sexuals are larger risk takers - sexually - than purely hetero sexual teens/youths are.

Another possible discussion point - does this belie the "common knowledge" that "Sexual minorities" have no control over whether they are girls that like girls and boys that like boys, or is this something that they have control over?

(Reuters Health) - Pregnancies are more common among lesbian, gay, bisexual youths than among their heterosexual counterparts, suggests a new study of New York City high school students.

Overall, sexual-minority students who were sexually active were about twice as likely as other students to report becoming pregnant or getting someone pregnant, researchers found.

There is still a whole of societal and peer pressure that leads to confusion about sexual identity. It wouldn't surprise me a bit that it could result in more sexual activity as a way to sort things out. And of course, the article also says:

Lindley also cautioned that the new study does not represent all lesbian, gay and bisexual youths - only those who had sex with a person of the opposite sex.
Overall, a pretty weak bit of evidence that it's always a choice.

Besides, a teen pregnancy is the least of your problems if you're going to wind up burning in the eternal fires of damnation -- wouldn't you say?

What, you don't believe that salvation is offered to LGBTs? Do you hold with the concept of mortal sin? Or is there only one mortal sin?

I'll answer that for you.

Salvation is open to all who call on Jesus for forgiveness, it's not limited to straights.

Can I get salvation but still continue to sin, or should I just ask at the last few moments?

Chances are I wouldn't die instantly. There's probably be a few seconds where I could ask for forgiveness. So, what exactly should I say? Maybe I should rehearse it.

I wonder if it would work if you just wrote it out on a card that you keep in your pocket --

"Dear God, in the event of my sudden death, please forgive me for..."

Do you have to list out EACH sin, or will a blanket forgive me do? I mean, surely God has been keeping track. Listing them all out seems kinda like grandstanding.

Reminds me of when I had to go to confession. I'm sure people were thinking -- how long is he going to be in there?

Brits pretty much strive for eternal damnation....gives us hope believing we'll wind up in a warmer climate.

Bless your heart.

Are you asking that as a Baptist, a Methodist, or a Catholic? I'd have a different doctrinaire answer for each....

Cash or debit card attached to purchase the indulgence?

Which demonstrates the absurdity of all this mumbo jumbo.

Reminds me of the old Far Side cartoon --

The devil is standing outside the gates of hell with a condemned man and the the devil says, "Yes, but it's a DRY heat."

Silly joke:

The devil meets the sinner at the gates of hell with a warm welcome.

"Have I got to burn for eternity?", the sinner asks, trembling with fear.

"Not necessarily. You have three options", the devil explains, swinging round the monitor on the reception desk for the sinner to see. The screen was split into three images. The first showed a room full of people writhing and screaming in the flames. The second was a torture chamber, with sinners groaning and begging for mercy as their limbs were stretched and torn on racks. The third was a calm room, with sinners sipping cups of tea, waist deep in mud.

"I'll take the third option please", the sinner said quickly.

"As you wish", said the devil, leading him down the corridor . The sinner waded into the mud until he found a spot to stand in. The mud stank - its fumes belying the fact it was a tank full of pig shit.

The devil beamed at the new arrival, before flicking a switch and shouting into the intercom " Right then. Tea break over. Back on your heads."

Same here. Winters where I live are easy. Summers are cruel. Spring and Autumn are very nearly non-existent, being increasingly eaten by the other two. When it's cold you can always throw on an extra layer, but law restricts taking things in the other direction, and even when you start peeling off in the privacy of your own abode, you can only go so far before you're faced with the prospect of flaying yourself.

In summer, I do get a little tired of moving from one sealed and air conditioned environment to the next.

My brother lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They have distinct seasons. It can get a little hot in the summer, but it's mostly pretty nice and at least tolerable.

Winters are very cold of course, but they have everything they need to deal with it. The snow plow situation is amazing -- they're out in force as soon as there is the least bit of accumulation.

Minneapolis is a great city, with all it's parks and lakes. My brother says the extreme cold is a good thing -- it keeps the city from being overrun.

See Mohican...

I think people are more inclined to talk about things that ACTUALLY affect them day-to-day, like something as banal as the weather.

That as opposed to your obsession with sexual orientation and phony morals...

No, nothing relevant to this - just seeking out Myers...

I've just noticed a new member registering with the name 'Debaser'. D'you think the clue to what they'll bring to the table is in their handle?
