A quick note: I pass my congratulations to the staff or whoever responsible for locking the Adult Content forum and making it solely available for members of the group only; previously, as I have said, there was no point to having an adult group.

A great issue. It looks fantastic, so congratulations to HoiLei, Winterbite, and Devon (and the rest of staff) for all the hard work they've put in to ensure we get a great e-zine every three months.

One issue, though: Is there a way to make the issue available on-line? Some people are still using dial-up connections and downloading it would be nearly impossible.

Yeah, I'm one of those dial-up folks. Currently trying to save to my computer and I'm at 23%...

Here's hoping it'll actually work this time. Couldnt get the last issue because it was just too big. And this one is 10.5MB. Thats a lot of bytes...

Well this one is about half the size of the last one in terms of bytes; we worked hard to cut down, as the last one was too big. I hope it downloads ok.

Unfortunately I donít know any of the technical stuff so I canít answer the question about seeing it online; you will have to wait for one of the Admins.

I have an extremely slow connection as well, but when you load it online, you load just as much as when you download, right? Except by downloading, you can keep it and read it again later on, which would seem preferable to me. It's true that it takes a very long time to load, though *can't wait until next year when she'll live on her own with fast internet*

I think that's right, Ilseum--when you load something online, it gets downloaded to a Temporary files folder. It's on your computer the same as if it was downloaded normally, but it gets deleted when you shut down.

We'll work on getting it smaller--possibly some compression thing could work--but this is only the second issue we've put out on our own since the professional layout person could no longer do it. We have much to learn!

Yes indeed, we're learning as we go. For now, I hope you enjoy the zine when it does download. Meanwhile, with each issue, we'll try to reduce the size further. I know how it is to live with dial-up.

As for a text-only version, it's something we're considering. For the most part, the writings in the Quarterly are picked from the boards. So things like contest winners are online already. Editor's Choice picks are also online already, but maybe an announcement of what our picks were, along with links, would be good. Some of the articles make their way to the Ref. Room, but not all... they and Member's News and such would be good candidates for text-only release.
