Default Last line of The Stranger

I know, I know. This is a weird question. But still, I need an answer, and I don't have a copy of the book in question.

I've been working on a story that's supposed to be a tribute to Camus's The Stranger. In order for it to work, however, I need to know the last line of that book. I know the opening, but I need the ending. And for some bizarre reason, my library doesn't have it in stock.

Can somebody help? Thanks in advance.

"For all to be accomplished, for me to feel less lonely, all that remained to hope was that on the day of my execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls of execration."

Great book, BTW.

Thanks! I knew it was something like that, but I needed the exact wording.

Heh. An Albert Camus quote is on the top of the page as I'm writing this. "The purpose of a writer is to keep civilization from destroying itself."
