Default I remember you

I was here a few years back. Then I left. Since then I've grown up some and life has changed quite drastically.

Credentials: I'm a published author; self-published and commercial. I'm also a first reader and pro-reader for a few publishing houses. I read for pleasure, although not as much as I'd like.

For the day job, among other things, I write technical documents and a quarterly magazine that's deployed across a large corporation.

I've not had the bug to write fiction for a few years, nothing that lasted anyway, but it's just come along and bitten me again, so I thought I step back through the doors of the Beat to be among like-minded creatives in the hope it might help. Although I'm still not sure if it's a good idea ...

It's nice to see some new names here, as well as some notorious old ones too. I look forward to catching up with you all around the forum.

Is your avatar meant to look like an alien sex organ? Or is that just me?

Oh, welcome back

I think they're used to using the servant's entrance, Nick. You know, around -- you're right. Never mind.

Oh, and welcome back, Aof.

("...actually I thought all flowers were sex organs..." ventured the goblin not sure really but hoping not be thought crude by it though, then adding "...me, I rarely miss out on welcoming someone even if it's their return here...", to which the goblin pulled out of his pocket a thermos of coffee before pouring some of it into the lid to hand over to An Old Face with the words "...here's to us from here on in, for writing is not about those elsewheres today, no it's always just "wherever one is at the time", and whether one's posts can pull them towards one's pen still...", where the readership offered by this forum was not to scoffed at, and where the goblin's other hand then brought the thermos up to his lips with a smiled of expectation)

True but if you hold a few Dragon flowers [Dracunculus vulgaris] across your palm (secured between last two fingers and thumb) you can play them like a violin.

I always thought it best to play them like a harmonica.

I see I still have much to learn.
