Hi Jim. There seems to be only i fact in your letter. Personally, I would add a few words for:

Why read my submission. (genre, reading level, how fits in with your magazine)
What background (education and experiences) caused me to write it.

Consider that if someone actually reads your letter, they'll want to know something about you and/or the submission. Your statement is saying the obvious since they already have your submission.

Hope that helps.

Have a nice writing day.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know if having everything left justified is acceptable? For emails, that is quite acceptable. In fact, it is starting to become acceptable in printed correspondence as well.

One content point, you should include both publication and publisher at the top. For those publishers with only one publication what you have is fine. There may be those with more than one and specifying the publication will prevent rejection of your story because of confusion.

Hope this helps.

Thanks old guy, I'm not interested in changing the content; if they ask for more I provide it.

Thanks poirot, I use the name of the mag not the publisher. My nominal academic experience led me to post this.

I'm satisfied and do not anticipate revisiting this thread; send PM if necessary.
(by the way, old guy is absolutely right and his suggestions are good for almost all writers)

Thanks again.
