Susurrus is a bimonthly, highly experimental venue for fiction that deals with the human condition in speculative situations. We accept fiction and artwork submissions to be considered for publication. We purchase first electronic rights (second in the case of reprints), and archive all works on the site unless an author specifically requests otherwise.
Surreal, experimental, low fantasy, horror, SF, and literary fiction are all considered. Fiction should be well written and well edited pieces from one word to five thousand words, and should be sent as word documents or pasted to the body of the e-mail. Include your name and mailing address. Sent fiction submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
Artwork should also be strange or surreal, and should be sent as a jpeg, or send us a link to your website. When we like enough of your work, we may ask you to be a "feature artist". Include your name and mailing address. Sent art submissions to email@example.com
We will consider poetry, articles of interest, or interviews. Articles and interviews must do one or both of the following:
1) Be written in a way that is consistent with what we publish. That is, be experimental, strange, incomprehensible, obscure, esoteric, ergodic, etc.
2) Be of interest to a reader or writer of small press fiction or electronic fiction. Submit or query if you're not sure to firstname.lastname@example.org
As of our June 2006 issue (the next issue we will publish) our rates have raised to a flat $5.00 payment per contributor per issue, paid on publication. The exception is single artworks solicited for illustrations, which pay $1.00 each, to a limit of $5.00.
We welcome your submissions, questions, comments, or suggestions.
