Well, that's me out of ideas...

Maybe we could pass the hat and get his name on a couple milk cartons?

Showing your age Lockette...

I don't think Nick would meet the vulnerability criteria for being a milk carton kid. They don't normally carry a loaded firearm and ride motorbikes....

Do you guys actually still have cardboard milk cartons?

They're long gone in UK, along with our classic glass bottles and the joy of waking to the electric whine of a milk float chinking its way along the road at dawn.

No, its all polyethylene containers now. Yes, they have far better ecological implications if they are recycled properly but they need to go in the recycling bin. No, it doesn't happen - they get lumped in with the household waste and end up spending the next twenty years in a landfill somewhere trying to decompose. So many of those bottles are denied proper karmic evolution through being robbed of the opportunity to reincarnate as garden furniture or plant pots, poor souls...

We have plastic gallon milk bottles. But you can still get smaller amounts, 1/2 gallon etc., in cartons...

I wonder if "America's Most Wanted" is still on.

They kind of specialize in guys who carry loaded firearms and ride "motorbikes..."

Enjoy It While It Lasts
..............................

You shook him off, didn't you?
You're feeling sane
wthout some refrain
haunting your brain,
begging for release.
Your soul is at peace.
Gonna tell me that ain't true?

Forsaken your pen for a pistol?
Did your muse get left behind?
Seized your chance to just unwind?
D'you sleep well? Are your spirits high?
Feeling in control without the other guy?
Are your thoughts as clear as crystal?

It's a good feeling, it's true,
with nothing to write
or taunt your mind at night.
Just leave the paper white.
Has your fever passed?
Are you feeling normal at last?
but Nick - you know he'll find you...

Sometimes when someone leaves you can see that the participation level has been dropping off.

It's also pretty common for people to come back and lurk a bit after they quit a forum -- kind of like Tom Sawyer spying on his own funeral.

The suddenness and that it looks like he hasn't been back at all is something to be concerned about. Hope he comes back -- even if it's just to say all is well.

I hope he's just taking a well-earned break and leading a normal, wholesome life for a while.

I've taken breaks from this site for over a year before, and didn't click on at all within that period. I doubt Piercey is lurking in the shadows.

I am genuinely worried - he could have had a health crisis or met with an accident, and we'd be none the wiser. I really hope nothing's wrong apart from needing a change of scene. Very fond of Nick.

Oh tell me why...do we build castles in the sky...

"...eventually he'll feel too guilty to return..." ventured the goblin suspecting that there were forums he too had left off posting on more from forgetfulness that any malice on his part, adding "...besides, it's never who is or isn't here, it's "what can I post while here" that advances one, so me I encourage all posters to post if only to see who they are by what they post now, after all if one is only writing to flog books, playing music to sell tracks, going to work for the pay-packet, etc., then one isn't living life in my view, no one's life is living one instead for one's baseness toward it and one's talents too..." simply the goblin wrote to extenuate his journey to self here where life no doubt would carry out without him still

We have mainly plastic. Actually, all milk (aside from soy milk, which still resides in a cardboard shell) is packaged in plastic. But that's not all! I used to know a girl who lived near the Canadian border and supposedly (It was another forum, so you can never be sure whether or not it's true) they have their milk bagged. you just open the bag and pour it into a pitcher. the sizes are much smaller, though. Like the biggest was 2 liters?

aside from that, he may be taking a hiatus from the forums. A change of scenery benefits the creative mind quite a bit.

if we don't hear from him by Christmas I believe we may have to presume him MIA...

Yes, I've heard about the milk in bags phenomenon - all sounds a bit fiddly...I struggle enough in the mornings as it is.

Nick has made a huge contribution to this site - prolific writer but also dedicated to reading and offering critique on whatever goes up. My main concern is that he knows he's both missed and valued - fairly sure he would be tickled by this thread, rather than embarrassed. He knows me well enough.

I miss playing with him - he has a matching sense of mischief!

I'd be a bit surprised to see anyone care enough about my well being to do something similar to this. guess it shows how much of a central part of the Beat he is.

He's kind of like a tavern cat. He brushes up against your leg, you pet him a bit, the cat perhaps knocks over your drink, and then he's gone.

The forums always seem a bit empty without a cryptic comment or two in them.

Nick Pierce did some note-worthy stuff; but worth this much attention? No, emphatically no.

It's not compulsory to click on this thread...I'm happy to lavish him with attention in solitude.

(the goblin was somewhat losing the plot now, finding it harder and harder to differentiate things, meaning in adapting himself between those trolls on the their forum there and the writertypes on this forum here, relating "...well, to keep the mind supple it's always best to be across a wide spectrum of forums, though in practice one can often get confused by the diversity of it all, so if by any chance you too are now having trouble telling the two lowly creatures apart and adapting accordingly, it's suffice to say that the trolls are trolls that know that they're trolls, whereas the writertypes are more like unsuspecting trolls whose posts are more like well written for all their detractions, hope this helps then, I mean sometimes it helps even if its a bit confusing I know...", meanwhile the slot in some supporting role here just went "...this has been a public service announcement on behalf of all goblins everywhere...")

He did say that when he hits 70 he's gonna locate to the Philippines with his missus (a promise must be kept.) he said that round 18 months ago, except a promise must be kept, though I'm sure he's that type of guy. He may feel the reality of being seventy and waning strength. So has he turned seventy......Don't believe he would take off without saying anything.
Perhaps he's had a bike accident and can't work a keyboard.
Or perhaps he's just pissed off with himself or finds no stimulation in the threads anymore. Whatever my be, he has a strength of character and will do what he will do, though I sense a caring gentle side too.
I looked a few days ago and he hasn't deleted his profile. So I reckon he's having a rest and follows this thread with a wry smile on his face.........If you fancy a swim Nick, a father long one, you're welcome in my house.
