Default How to ruin a Wolverine movie...

I thought it would be impossible, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine carving up 2/5ths of humanity. The entire movie could just show Fifty thousand bad guys being shot at Wolverine out of a cannon and Wolverine carving them up as they fly past for two hours, and the movie would win 50 Oscars and 7,000,000,000 people would watch and enjoy it, and buy the DVD afterwards.

But I was proven wrong... again.

[spoiler alert] if I want to watch an old drunk man with no mutant healing factor stagger about I could have stayed at home.

I'm starting to sound like that fat guy from The Simpsons, conveying my disappointment to the Internet shortly after seeing a movie. It's not good for my health. I need to take an antacid.

But the thing is, movies are supposed to give me two hours of meaningless dribble to fill an already empty existence, not remind me of my empty existence. And if wanted to watch a movie on existentialism I wouldn't choose Wolverine.

I can understand where you’re coming from on this, but, I can’t say that I share the opinion. I actually thought that Logan was a decent representation of the Old Man Logan comic series that it was based on.

The series shows Logan as a bitter, broken down and disillusioned old man. But for those who haven't read the comic series and went in expecting to see more of the same, I get that. I have some friends and colleagues that felt a similar way about it.

I haven't seen the movie (you'd think that alone would prevent me from contributing to the thread - but you'd be wrong.)

Hugh Jackman doesn't do it for me. Neither face nor voice hold any appeal. As a cat owner, the novelty of retractable claws is hardly going to dazzle me either.

Had it been Mathew MccConaughey, I'm sure I would have paid extra for those deluxe cinema seats with the extra leg room and those nice round holes in the arm of the chair to spit your chewing gum into.

No to Hugh, but yes to Matt?!

I question your judgement...

Okay, I'm not gay, but Hugh is way hotter than Matt. And he can act... like, really act.

All this time I thought the guy's name was Huge Ackman.

Or maybe I was thinking of the porn star.

Ah, another "Is Hollywood out of ideas?" discussion.

I remember the derision for all the Godzilla movies, and with vehicles like X-Men and Transformers Hollywood has went in that direction.
