Saw 0 (Prelueding film to Saw 2)

This is my first completed screenplay, I've written alot before this but this is the first finished one. It's a prequel to Saw 2, that I'm hopefully going to get made when I get my new camera.

Also, if you dont like Saw dont even bother reading it.

Ok, I zipped the file, It should work now.

It doesn't load. May I recommend just posting it here?

Try it now. Also keep in mind this is the first draft, and there are somethings still wrong with it (spelling errors, things left out by accident).

First, let me congratulate you on creating something. I think you have the potential to write a decent screenplay. I think you have some good ideas. Keep these positives in mind, because the rest of my post is not going to have the same flavor.

Mechanics
Even a screenplay needs correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Sentences must link together well enough to give the director a solid idea of what to do with your dialogue. Your dialogue needs to be written in the way that people say things, not the way that people would write things.

Plot
I don't consider fan-fic "real" writing (shoot me for it, but it's my opinion). You are taking someone else's creations (characters) and using them in your own ways. It's not original, and it's not worth anyone else's time to read your version of another author's characters' motivations. That said, there are some serious problems with your story. If you wanted to create a story set before the first Saw movie, why would you just repeat the same basic plotlines as the existing two films? If you really wanted to take a look into the mind of Jigsaw, you should go back to a time when the police didn't know who he was. How did he get started? When was his first kill? What made him start? Where do his views come from? You've simply written more gory scenarios for the villain to create. What's the point of that?

If you're hell-bent on fan-fic in screenplay format, at least explore the mind of the killer enough to keep this screenplay from just being another set of bad situations for not-so-innocent people.

Tough love, but keep writing. And try to find your own characters.

I really liked your script you wrote. It's original, and while I've not seen either Saw movie, I can tell that you put a lot of effort into this to keep it from being a complete clone. However, as solecistic put it, you need to explore your characters more. Especially if you're going to write a "fan-fic", then you should maybe delve into Jigsaws past (if it hasn't been done in the two movies already). It would be nice to see what turned Jigsaw into an "avenger", "killer", or whatever he is.

Still, good writing, but check for typos too please.

Smooth. Somehow refreshing. But you have some details to upgrade.

Default What about film rights?

How do you plan on getting the rights for just making a Saw 0, or are you just making a home-movie?
