Default The Classifieds Section

This isn't a suggestion or a complaint, but I'm just curious: Is it regulated? (As in, would you recommend anyone to respond to any of the ads?)

Since anyone can post there, I'd recommend doing a little research before you send anything. We don't do extensive background checks on every website.

The Classifieds Sections was designed primarily to stop people spamming the introduction and other boards with advertisements. What you see in there has no affiliation whatsoever with Writer's Beat, and whether or not you respond to any of the ads is entirely your prerogative.

However, I'd advise you to exercise due diligence when responding to any ad posted over the Internet. If it looks too good to be true, it often is.

Exactly what Daedalus said. We can't go through and try and test every classified ad that comes through. Even if we tried to do that, sometimes hearing back from places takes a while (with submissions, etc.). Writers need to be smart about what they do with their writing. We encourage members to report back to us on any classified that they have proof is not legitimate, though. If something is knowlingly a rip off, we would like to know that. But we can't judge them on being just "fishy" either.

Well, anyone can post there without having to wait for a confirmation...

But normally if something sounds a bit fishy or at least should be just checked out... there are a few sharp eyes around here.
