Default Spots you go to when you're being a loner

If I want to get away from wherever I am, or if I'm particularly stressed, or really just want to be alone somewhere pretty, I have a few spots I'll go to alone to do so. There's a creek by my house, and a viewpoint in the mountains in my town that overlooks a few cities, and a beach I know with cliffs I like to go to and walk around.

Sometimes I feel weird about it, especially when I go somewhere public(like the cliffs, which are in a bit of a stoner-ish area and there's always people around even at night), and people will ask me "Why are you sitting alone?" I ussually just tell them I like coming there to clear my mind. Sometimes I'll end up talking to(or, uh...partaking in what they came there for as well) random strangers and I find it a really interesting experience to go places alone and meet people without having other people dictate how the interaction goes. I don't know, I guess I am a bit strange.

Anyway, who's got places like this as well? Share them, I love hearing about cool places others like to go to, it makes me feel less weird.

I go to my bath tub. It's my happy place, hands down.

There and the barn.

The alien wishes he had a bath tub on board. "I live alone on a space that travels the universe ship--that's as solitary as you can get."

How does one bathe on a space ship with no tub?

I have a big garden tub and I turn into a raisin while I have my mlti-cd player jamming in the back.

I used to go sit in front of the river in a pretty modern and beautiful area of Lisbon, called Parque das Nações. It actually is a tourist hotspot during the summer, but that's precisely the only season I never went there just to be by myself. Occasionally, since I live on top of a hill, right in front of a vast clearing, I might go there as well to enjoy a different view and atmosphere. No one is there aside from the odd dog walker or jogger.

Well, I live 1.5 blocks from the Pacific. Puerto Armuelles has a long old wharf that sticks 'way out. That's a good place. The mountains are close. I go up on Volcan Barú to study the plants (I write books about the orchids, bromeliads, anthurium, etc.) There are cascadas and waterfalls that that can be magnificent as well as calming. The monkeys will sometimes put on a show and the parrots are noisy fun. I'm able to relax and enjoy, then return to town.
In the early morning just at daylight or the evening just at sunset there is the parque where I can watch the colors.
Or I can close the door and stay right here. Everyone knows that you do not disturb me when I'm writing. If the door's closed they assume I'm writing.

Usually the moonlight is enough, but there's also a few lights from the houses on top of the cliffs. You can walk along them, and there's a few caves and secluded little beaches along there. And usually people are smoking weed or sometimes drinking...it's a pretty stoner-like area. But it's a long stretch of cliff so you can find places to be alone too.

My favorite get away is an old used book store called Readers Corner in Raleigh, it is absolute peace. It is a very quiet, peaceful experience. Even when it is packed with other readers and writers, words are rarely spoken - greetings are done with smiles and kind eyes as we browse old treasures.

If you want solitude, nothing beats the bone orchard.

I find solace with my birds and other yard critters, never feel the need to go further than there anymore.

I don't find I often need to separate myself from the rest of humanity in such a deliberate way.

I also like the water.

There's a water park in my town- Centennial park or Whittaker Park

(home felt too lonely then, and was never a good place for solitude the goblin felt, so instead the goblin preferred the bristo with all its noise and uninvoling commotion, smiling "...alone in a crowd like a show carrying on around me burring into the trance again, thus I become a painter who paints in written words where those words pull forth yet more words in some feedback loop that has me almost surprised both by what I actually write and by the long time it took to do so too, hours passed as minutes perhaps, the sensation of everything slowing down to a pen crawl of right words, my inner solitude then...")
