Could be a dialect thing. Maybe saying "is all me" is an American expression? It means "is entirely my idea/project".

Glad this issue is such a big hit! Nobody's mentioned the significance of this being ISSUE 25 yet, though We've just hit a quarter of a century... just seventy-five more to a hundred, guys!
Wonder who'll be left to see that one come out....

Ah, I'll stick around until two days before I die.
The last day is dedicated for my travel to the publisher to shove my complete/incomplete/non-existant manuscript down their throat. Or threaten them. Whatever it takes to get it published.
I sort of inferred that it meant 'is all my idea', Hoi - then again, it probably is an American thing as I've not heard it frequently, and to my untrained ears it sounded a little egotistic. I mean, using it here would make you sound rather arrogant, though I don't doubt for a second that American usage differs entirely (we don't actually even use it here in the first place).

Hmm - the 100th WBQ would come up in about 2018 or the sort. Only 8 more years to go - and heck, it had better be a good one after all the 'wait'.

2018? Half the forum's population will be dead by then! We're going to have to start putting obituaries in WBQ....

Half the forum's population? I thought the world was ending in 2012?
Wait a minute . . . that must mean half of us are aliens . . . .

Good work, Winter, commissioning this thread to be hidden under another!
But I'm watching. And no, I'm not tempted to cookies, either.

Last time he went for the cheese this metal thing snapped down on his ass and it was a narrow thing altogether.

WHAT?! Hell, I'll only be 47 by then, Winterbite, and I'm one of the oldest ones here. 2018 is only eight years away, you know. *shakes cane of disgust at Winter*
And, actually, it's been discovered that rats and mice aren't attracted to cheese as much as they're attracted to peanut butter. Setting-traps-out-wise, anyway.

I heard that, actually... we always use peanut butter. And... forty-seven isn't the average lifespan these days?
Hmm... really should get my nose out of the fifteen-hundreds, I suppose.

you know what? I'm pretty sure 12/21/2012 will pass, and we'll wake up on the 22nd and think: "shit, the world was supposed to end yesterday??? aww, I missed it!"
I like the cover, did someone here paint it?

HoiLei: The cover artist signed her work along the right side, so it says "Jackie D'Silva, 2009" there.
|
A friend of Hoi's. Isn't it spectacular?
Edit: Whoops. Didn't really answer your question. Jackie's not a member here. At least, I don't think so, anyway.

Jackie is not a member here, no. I did give her the link to this thread, though, so she could read people's reactions.
It's not a painting, though it looks like one! She drew it for us with a mix of colored pencils, gel pens, and markers.

I love the art on the cover.
Also, I've never seen a webzine before, ever, and I have to say it was pretty awesome. And the story Cinnamon slapped me to the cobblestones; wasn't expecting that end at all.

Okay so I read the Issue and it's very nice.
But when I read the winning poems, the one by Suzanne Barrett (Essence) here I noticed that it's basically her poem on top of someone else's. After the line 'so one smile makes two', is the poem called Smiling is Infectious. Most places I looked says the author is unknown or it says its by Karen McLendon-Laumann.
So, I highly doubt Essence wrote it.
That's all.
