Default Would this make a good script?

Hi,

I have posted a short story in the fiction section (http://www.writersbeat.com/showthread.php?t=26227) which I wrote about 20 years ago. I came across it recently and it was in the form of (what I considered) a screenplay (I have no idea why I did that).

Would you be good enough to let me know if it would work on screen? I will type out the printed screenplay version and upload it in the next couple of days.

Thanks,

Alan

Well first off. I enjoyed the story, kept me interested all the way through.

Now personally, I'm a believer that almost any story can be adapted for film, although it may not be the same exact experience. I can definitely see this being adapted as it's just (so far) exploring the relationships and lives of three young boys. You'll probably have to make adjustments on how you tell the story in certain parts, just because of the nature of scripts but why not write it up? I say give it a try.

Edit: My apologies I didn't notice you posted the second part. I read it and obviously it changes some things but again I think it's still very doable as a script. Maybe it's just the wannabe director in me but I see it as a very dark, but strangely charming short film.

Well, I tried turning it into a screenplay but just wasn't able to get the story across. I guess I should just stick to short stories.

The process of writing can be frustrating, but I think the idea and story is very good. Maybe you should try letting some time pass and give it another go. I still enjoyed the story either way.

You won't be able too get into a script in one day, even if you have a previous outline and having a short story to work off, might actually be slowing you down, making a script fit too the conventions of the short story.

You might try take your main character and just a section of the plot and build on that even if they don't match each other carbon.
