Default Buy a members book?

hey Guys,
I have noticed quite a few of the forum members have published in e-formats and also that the membership is truly international. It occurred to me, that as fellow members we could have a self-supporting type of thing going on here.

Suppose (for a limited time, say one week every three months) all members books would be available at a set price (e.g. 1) members could be informed of this offer and it could benefit all.

The author gets exposure
Increase in sales would increase potential submission to Trad. Pub. Houses
Members get a 'feel' of other members writing styles at low cost
Members help other member sales figures at relatively little cost
As word got out, it would increase forum membership

Do you think it would it be a good Idea?
Best regards
D

In general principle, definitely.

Though, I'm not sure about the details of forcing people to offer their work on a deal just so members of the forum get to support them.

What about having a specific section where forum members can advertise their work and talk about it, different from the general classifieds area we have right now. And within that, people could also choose to offer member discounts to other forum members at their own discretion. That way, it puts control of their prices in their own hands rather than forcing them to conform to a forum rule.

Anyway, just some thoughts on a good idea.

Candra,

Good idea to input an already good plan. It's win win for everyone this way.

Perhaps we can do something with the WBQ to include a list of who's got what publishe; within or alongside 'Members' News'; what do the rest of the staff think?

I like the idea very much, but the price fix won't be possible for those member's who have e-books pulished through a publisher. In those cases they have no control over prices, but it seems unfair not to include them, after all, everyone can use the publicity.
