Default Interested in joining the Writer's Beat Staff?

Writer's Beat Staff
> moderator > critic > columnist > contests > editor >marketing/pr > graphic design

(legend of prioritiy: red (needed badly), blue (needed), green (taking offers but not in demand).

Moderator: This job is basically the same, except you must request which forum you want to be a moderator for, and that will be one of the "roles" you can take as a staff member. Basically eliminating the idea of Global Moderators. If you want to moderator something, simply request it. You may choose more than one forum.

Critic: This is going to be an official "critic of writer's beat" sort of role and title. Basically you're going to be known for critiquing work. You can choose if you want to do it for all genres or a specific genre. I'm asking 3/4 critiques a week. Ideal would be a critique a day but it's negotioable.

Columnist: This role is exactly as it sounds. If you chose to have a column in the publication, you'll be assigned this role. You may of course chose as many columns as you'd like to have. If you have an idea for one, go ahead and ask to include it, if I agree then you'll have that column, or see it if you don't want to be the columnist.

Contests: This role is basically help with creating contests to help inspire community spirit, and motivation in a fun writing enviornment with rewards. These contests will be mentioned in the monthly publication, and so will the winners with their winning entries. You'll also need to help judge the contests to chose the winning entries.

Editor: As an editor, you'll basically be monitoring all offical Writer's Beat material. This includes the publication (making sure columns don't have mistakes, etc), promotional text, and anything else that is Official Writer's Beat Material.

Marketing/PR: This role is helping Writer's Beat grow. You can take advantage of this by getting link trades, mentioning us on different websites, trying to get deals with your local establishments for a promotion. (e.g contact your local bookstore, request to have writer's beat on their wall for a month, in return for advertisement or something) Also brainstorming for just creating more activity, etc. Anything you can think of to make Writer's Beat bigger and more active.

Graphic Design: This role is creating graphics for Writer's Beat. Basically anything you think needs to be created, and or anything that is requested. Icons, promotions, banners, site buttons, etc.

As these are roles that require activity, please request these roles only if you have the time. I don't want to waste your time here and you not being able to provide.

A benefit to becomming part of the staff is that it is mentionable on your resume if you word it right. I've already heard a couple staff use this on their resume.

These roles are completely voluntary, at least for now. I absolutely intend to pay everyone on the staff, but the key is everyone. Until Writer's Beat can afford everyone it has to be voluntary. Can't choose a select few, that wouldn't be right.

Thank you for your interests in helping Writer's Beat become a better community.

-Daniel

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, but I've been going through some things lately that have taken all my time away from me. I've been doing much better now, though, so I'm ready to get back on Writer's Beat.

Anyway, I'm thinking of editor for me, if you're interested. If you are, can you please PM me? If it involves proofreading and the like, I absolutely love to. I know for a fact that I'm not perfect, but I strive to be.

HI

You already have me down for a columist for this months addition, but I'm quite happy to do a regular thing!

Would also like to apply for the Critic , I tend to do two/three critiques a week foranother forum anywayalthough, I have been stuck for time the last couple of weeks, hence not critiqued any on this site yet(...but i've only been a member a couple of weeks!) I've written articles on critquing for newcomers in the past.

I don't really have a role for this. If you can come up with something more general in such a topic I could maybe create a "brand new" role - but that specialist advice seems to niche targetted to only one forum. It would maybe only make sense as a moderator. Not to sure.

Well, I specialise in the medical profession [althought particularly head/spinal injuries and respiratory trauma] and I can give advice on script writing and indsutry-related topics if you want to make a role out of that but I do agree with you to that extent.

What about writing a column every month on such topics?

I'd love to have another columnist. Do you think you could write anything on topics that would help writers in general?

I'm not sure, D. Let me think about it and see if I can come up with a topic that might be useful and that I know enough about. I wasn't an English major. Hmmm. . . . .

Hi Daniel,
Not sure if I'm doing this right but, if not, I think you'll see it anyhow. I volunteered to help out as a copywriter. I can do some editing, as well, if you need it. I have been critiquing work, a few novels (very time consuming) and a lot of short stories, for about 8 yrs. It is something I love doing and have become fairly proficient at. I also have a short rhyming poem about writing, though I'm not sure if you use anything like that. It is only meant to make us writers smile, nothing deep.
Age: Does it matter? I verify that I'm not senile yet.
Location: NJ
Position: Copywriter That's about it. Continued good luck with the site.

I'm bad when it comes to being tied down for things, but I love to contribute anyway. So I guess I'll put up a pseudo sign up:

Name: Jaz (Jesse!)
Age: 19
Location: NYC
Additional Comments: Not looking for a actual position where I am being relied on for results, because well, I'm just not confident I could do that, I'm not active enough.

Requested Roles: I can contribute to the following areas:
-Columnist
-Contests
-Graphic Design

So just drop me a PM or a pager message or something if you have something to do, I'll see if I can do something with it. I tend to have quite a busy schedule. :[

Err, I just don't think I'm a reliable person. Like I had that one like, 1 and a half month hiatus a while ago. I just get worried I'd let the staff down.

Eh, I don't know. I have periods of extreme activity, and periods of extreme inactivity. I'm very up and down.
