I was thinking we were more like the last drunken mourners who won't leave the wake until they run out of booze.

I just cracked open a bottle of Grand Old Parr, so I'll be here a while...

I have to say, though, you, Nick Tim, Barry, and the rest of you die-hards who have been keeping this place going in the face of apparent futility -- you all have kudos coming. I was gone for a couple months, and to come back to find just a few drunken sailors clinging to the wreckage the site had become -- well, I was happy you'd found a barrel of rum in the jetsam and were able to stay toasted anyway.

Maybe that's why the sharks didn't get you.

It's just the sun beating down on you, Myers. It'll be dark soon.

"apparent futility"
glad you used the modifier

Chesty Puller, upon being informed that his Marine contingent (this was in Korea) was surrounded, remarked "Good. They can't get away from us now."

Yeah, he survived.

Default So is this forum dead yet?

Honestly, I've tried to find another place. There isn't any. I'm a pretty loyal dog---read: I don't like change. So this spot is where I poop.

Also, I love:

Grace
Steve
Chit-chat
Myers
Picklebottom
Kev
Luvknife
Gaines
Nick
Bluewpc
And all the kids.

I can't help it.

There are a few others who pop by now and then. I love them too.

I wish LeWriter would come back, but I talk to her on Facebook, so...

I don't think this site (or any other) will reach its former glory. They are being overtaken by social media and speed. This is a dying mode of communication. Anonymous screen names and discreet identities (allowing one to say anything with anonymity) are a thing of the past.

So... here it is.

And hey, watch out for that pile I just left over there in the corner.

I'd been wondering about LeWriter. She was definitely one of the bunch. Nok, too. Whatever happened to her? Ed misses her.

LeWriter is in college in England studying psychology. She's doing as well as a young prodigy should.

Don't know about Nok...

Yep, me too, just checking out who is around and then I will be off again <laugh out loud emoticon>

But seriously it is good to see you are back. It seems like most of us are still here in one form or another, except for bumhead, I miss that guy, he used to call me gherkin-butt...

Thanks, you too re seeing you around here. And all the other familiar faces. I hate that this forum doesnt work because I'd probably pop in more often. I used to lurk here regularly before it fell apart.

WB wouldn't open for me yesterday. I thought - Oh, another crash or Oh, Crowdgather pulled the plug

Get on today and my background colors are different. So I had a brief flirtation that CrowdGather fixed things.

But nope, nope, nope....

If CrowdGather pulls the plug I could use one of the free forum board providers (Pro Boards is always at least decent) and create a forum)

It would likely be loosely moderated and administered, partly from a time factors.

To do so, I'd have to start collecting email addresses right now......
