I remember those books. Both are my favorites.

What's life without mysteries?

Hush by Eishes Chayil. It's absolutely heartbreaking when Devory commits suicide.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. At some point I just couldn't take the bullshit they were doing and just stopped reading.

The Shack, William P. Young - the only book that's ever made me cry. The scene where he picks up his son's bones = sob-fest.

One that sticks out is Everything Matters! by Ron Currie. You know what's going to happen and it is a slow countdown til the end. Another is The Gum Thief by Douglas Coupland. Not a traditional weeper until you get to the very end, and then you're either heartbroken or driven to a murderous rage.
Wildcat... wild... cat... pow... wildcat...

Although you already know what is happening The Art of Racing in the Rain is a very sad yet hopeful book. Definitely more sad if you are an animal lover! Would recommend this book to anyone!
