The Cognitive Cursing

The Cognitive Cursing

The media does indeed feed us bovine fecal matter.
No, I do not want to fornicate under carnal knowledge you.
I am married.
Hide behind your false petty beliefs.
Poultry fecal matter!
Go and run when the debate gets too hot.
Admiring a lady is not calling her your female dog.
Some of my friends may be bundles of sticks and extremely happy.
Some British cigarettes; other Danish levees.
Yes, do call me an anal sphincter.
Coming from the entire anus deems a compliment.
Anyways, it started as a donkey.

Has it come to this? To have to see the word "media" posted in a piece in the WritersBeat Poetry Forum! What is this forum coming to? JHarrison, have you no shame? And then to see it used as a singular, too! *sobs inconsolably*

I walk away, with my head down low. I knew that word would be risky. I just knew it. Now my one clean near reverend reputation has been soiled by using that one unforgivable word.

Could it be used as a single entity, like a personification, representing the whole?

Why not "the media do indeed feed us . . . ."? I was a student of the late great Marshall McLuhan at University of Toronto in the late fifties (Remember him? his most famous silly moment was his appearance at Woody Allen's behest, to take on the pompous ass who pretended to be a McLuhan expert in the movie line in Annie Hall.) McLuhan's famous catchphrase was "The medium is the message." "Medium" really is singular, and "media" really is plural, as it refers to the plurality of communications systems such as television, radio, newspapers, and now the Internet, including podcasts and email. *harumphing silently and 'umbly back to his sherry, where he settles, in a purple funk*

I'm not sure where it was harsh, considering I didn't really find any of it insulting, even though you were using the politically correct terms. That could be insulting, I guess

Good work. I was like, totally expecting curse words.

Thanks Oasis, it was not meant to be insulting or offensive. It was just a play on words, and as I commented on in the Cafe', I got the motivation to write this ehilr in church yesterday.

We were talking about the current social skill deficits being taught to the younger generations compared to many years back.

That picture is about 15-16 years ago, when I worked in the oil industry.
