Default Self Publishing at home

Does anyone have any experience in using Word or some other software to actually self publish at home?

Or perhaps some other software?

I’m not sure what “self publish at home” means.

I really discourage publishing from home.

I've just ever heard sad stories and it's a joke in the professional world, but that's only if you want to mingle with snoots and pass cards like s.b.d's

As in write a short, perhaps print off a "homemade" book, maybe have some copies made at a kinkos, try a focused sale run at a narrow audience

Fantastic, that makes sense and reminded me of this book that I wish I could remember the title and author, yet it was soo long ago -- i tried doing a search and realized I cannot remember the title well enough, checked amazon and only found cups to break.

The book was something to do with the travels and misadventures of a world traveled dishwasher.

Wonderful read, started out just as you're talking as snipits. He printed 'zines and sold them to bookstores as he traveled and I kick myself for not buying the book. freakit all, but he printed them out in series and once you establish buddy relations w/ store owners > you snail mail what you've printed.

You're now you're own bookstore.

The funding may be enough to garner the platform readers to fund the book -- However, I'm not sure if the author I'm exampling went to a publisher with the final product, my spidey sense would say it was mass marketed, yet here i am not finding it on the web

I gotta go find that dishwasher book f*ck

Ah, I see.
Wouldn't you be better approaching a small printing firm?

There are online printers who will print books (or whatever) in as small a batch as qty: 1

My brain is scrambled with the flu so I can’t remember the name of any of them right now, but you could pay for a small batch to have in physical form and allow people to order more online and have them sent wherever.

They even offer formatting services, etc.

@Brianpatrick, er. the publics,
no flu

there's this fever reducer recipe i've yet to need to try, but here goes, it's South American ancient and a current redact as to whom i've curated the info from, here goes, i'd like to hear if you do this:

Potatoes. Raw
Sliced in medallion coins (not sure if you need to peel skins, dealers choice)
Place potato coins all over body and wrap tightly with dry bandanas, potatoes must touch your skin when you sleep.

To keep the chips touching your body all night, you have to wrap tight.
Places to include: forehead, chest, and feet

Feet are the easiest because you put the potatoes in your socks.
In the morning your fever may be reduced and breakfast served.

i've got a poetic version of this recipe, but its not ready yet.
and you made me spill a bean. let me know if you try this, the lady who told me about this had raised a total of 12 children and they are all still alive

I suppose you’ll want video proof (or at least a few pics) for confirmation?

I mean, in the interest of science and maybe ethnobotany.

Welll.

I'd be alright with an essay report .. but perhaps after you've recovered. Better go get a thermometer, video proofs no good where i live.

Haven't used the feature -- but there are book layout templates in Word. You may want to poke around and see how they work.
