Dostoevsky. No contest. Daylight to 2nd place.

Shakespeare is great too. But he's been lost in translation. Too many centuries have gone. I think he might have been the most sublime thinker who ever lived. Philosopher or writer. But he's been burred in time.

Another writer I admire is F. Scott Fitzgerald. I think he knew how to write about women, which is not something many men know how to do---including me.

Bukowski for his commitment to existentialism. It's easy to write about it, like Satre, Bulowski lived it. And wrote about it as well.

In non-fiction, I think Will Durant is the greatest prose stylist who ever lived.
